Statement From The Foreign Ministry On The Passing of Andrew McKinney

For Immediate Release – 26 April 2026. The Minister of Foreign Affairs was informed of the passing of Andrew McKinney, the former Chief of Protocol, this afternoon. He has expressed his condolences to the family on behalf of the Government of The Bahamas.

Andrew McKinney will long be remembered for being a stickler for state protocol and set the tone and records for the ceremonial protocol on state occasions to this day.

His career dates back to the 1970s and his imprint on the development of diplomatic and ceremonial protocol in The Bahamas cannot be under estimated.

The Minister has tasked the Protocol Division with organising a service at the Ministry in addition to supplying support to the family as they navigate these difficult days.
