STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS – ELECTIONS IN HAITI

The Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas has taken note of the preliminary results of the Presidential elections held in Haiti on Sunday 20 November 2016, where Jovenel Moise has emerged with the majority of the votes. The Government encourages all citizens to continue to remain patient as the country awaits the final results by the CEP.
 
The Hon. Frederick Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, offered his personal congratulations to Jovenel Moise.
 
While the results process is yet to be completed, should there be any legal disputes, they will have to be resolved using prescribed channels. The Government urges patience and calm as the final results are tabulated.
