Statement From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas on the Escalation of Attacks in The Straits of Hormuz

The Bahamas takes note of the recent renewed attacks carried out on countries within the Gulf region.

The Bahamas stands in solidarity with States affected by the increased level of attacks which undermine the collaborative efforts to restore security and stability in the region.

The Strait of Hormuz is an international waterway with navigational rights and freedoms of safe innocent passage governed by United Nation Convention on Law of the Seas.

The Bahamas joins the international community in calls for a “de-escalation” and for all sides to show restraint.
