The Bahamas Conducts First MSSM Deployment Rotation
The Bahamas has conducted its first deployment rotation, sending a new team to join the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
The MSSM’s mandate is to support the Haitian National Police (HNP) in countering gangs, restoring security, and creating conditions for free and fair elections.
The plane carrying the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Officers departed from Nassau on Thursday, 1st May, arriving in Port-Au-Prince a short time later.
The contingent was received by Force Commander Godfrey Otunge, SAIG, Charge d’Affaires in the Bahamas Embassy to Haiti, Commander Julian Smith and Deputy Force Commander Colonel Eldon Morgan.

The six-member team that deployed from 18 October 2024 was relieved of their duty and returned to The Bahamas later on Thursday afternoon
The Minister of National Security, along with senior officials from the Ministry, the Commander of the Defence Force, the Captain of Coral Harbour, other executive members, and the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were present to see off the deployed team and welcome the returning team. Members of the RBDF Secretariat were also present to warmly send off and welcome the Bahamas team members.
The Bahamas joins other personnel contributing states to the MSS Mission, including Kenya, Jamaica, Belize, Guatemala, and El Salvador. The Bahamas remains committed to supporting the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission in Haiti, contributing to the overall security of the people of Haiti and the Caribbean region.
