The Bahamas congratulates Denmark on its Constitution Day

Statement from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of The Bahamas, the Hon. Fred Mitchell on the Constitution Day (Grundlovsdag) of Denmark.

The Bahamas congratulates Denmark on its Constitution Day (Grundlovsdag), 5 June, which commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the Danish Constitution of 1849, establishing Denmark as a constitutional monarchy and also honors the constitution of 1953. The Bahamas notes the added significance of the Day as Danish women were given the right to vote 5 June 1915.  Denmark is a country with whom The Bahamas enjoys cordial and friendly relations, and we wish the Government and people many years of continued peace and prosperity.
