The Bahamas Delegation, Led by Kingsley Smith Jr. Participates in the Sagarmanthan Conference
Mumbai, India, 27th October, 2025. Kingsley Smith, Jr., Esq., MP, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry for Energy and Transport, Clarence Reckley, Senior Deputy Port Controller and Cidney Thompson, Foreign Service Officer in the Maritime & Ocean Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are currently attending the opening ceremony of the Sagarmanthan Conference, scheduled for 27-29 October in Mumbai, India. Sagarmanthan serves as a premier international platform for critical conversations on the blue economy, maritime logistics, ports, shipping, and waterways sectors, and the global ocean economy.

p0On the final day of the conference, October 29th, Parliamentary Secretary Smith will join fellow delegates of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in a panel session titled: “Pearls in the Ocean: SIDS and Emerging Maritime Economies from the Global South,” to explore how SIDS can leverage their ocean resources and exclusive economic zones (EEZs) to attract responsible investment and build resilient, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable maritime futures.
