H.E. Melanie Hilton Meets with Caribbean Counterparts in Venezuela.

JULY 5^TH, 2023 – Bahamas Ambassador to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Her Excellency Mrs. Melanie Hilton recently participated in the first Diplomatic Retreat for CARICOM Heads of Mission (CCHM) in Caracas, Venezuela. The retreat which coincided with the commemoration of the 50^th Anniversary of CARICOM served to enhance communication, cooperation, and coordination among Member States on various developmental issues.

Her Excellency participated in the plenary session where Heads of Mission discussed issues of common interest, such as regional integration – the impact of sanctions and developmental concerns within the region namely, Energy Security, the Bridgetown Initiative & Climate Action, Migration and Food Security. Heads of Mission were also hosted to a reception which afforded them the opportunity to network and build relationships with Venezuelan Government Officials, the Private Sector, CARICOM Diaspora in Venezuela and influential members of Civil Society.

As a new appointee to CCHM Mrs. Hilton along with her counterpart from St. Kitts were treated to a tour of cultural and historical sites in Venezuela.
