Minister Wells Meets With Israeli Transport Minister

TEL AVIV, Israel — Bahamas Minister of Transport & Local Government, the Hon. Renward Wells, led an official delegation to meet with his Israeli counterpart, the Hon. Bezalel Smotrich, Minister of Transport of Israel, July 4, 2019. Both discussed matters of mutual interest including:

1. Israel’s support for The Bahamas’ candidature for the United Nations International Maritime Organization (IMO) Group C Council;
2. Israel’s technical assistance with SMART traffic management technology;
3. Shipping and container port growth in The Bahamas and Israel; and
4. Airport growth in The Bahamas and Israel.

The Ministers exchanged gifts. Minister Wells presented a Bahamas Maritime Authority plaque, and Minister Smotrich presented a figurine of the City of Jerusalem.

Minister Wells is scheduled to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Intelligence of Israel in Jerusalem.

Minister Wells Attends Commonwealth Meetings While in London

LONDON, England — Minister of Transport and Local Government, the Hon. Renward Wells, currently in London for International Maritime Organization (IMO) meetings, as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs while there attended a Reception for Foreign Affairs Ministers of the Commonwealth hosted by Prince Charles at Clarence House Courtyard. Minister Wells on Wednesday — representing Bahamas Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Darren Henfield — attended the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting (CFAMM) at Marlborough House. The Ministers affirmed their commitment to “core values and principles” of the Commonwealth Charter during this well-attended meeting. The Bahamas Maritime Authority Board traveled to Brussels to deliver a letter from the Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr Hubert Minnis to the Secretary General of The African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States(ACP)
