Fred Mitchell, right, paid a courtesy call on UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on during the 76th Session of the UNGA in New York on 25 September 2021. The Prime Minister, his Foreign Minister and State Minister Myles LaRoda were in New York City to participate in the 76th Regular Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Following this meeting, Prime Minister Davis delivered The Bahamas’ statement to the General Assembly, touching on three principal crises — Dorian, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the challenges of climate change on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) such as The Bahamas.
