U.N. Ambassador H.E. Stan O. Smith Hosts Meeting on Water Scarcity

H.E. Stan Smith, Bahamas Ambassador to the United Nations recently hosted an aside to the United Nations Water Conference entitled “Sustainable Climate Action and Capacity Building for The Water Crisis”.
Co-Sponsored by the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Tajikistan and hosted in collaboration with the World Youth Group, the event sought to address water scarcity, an issue that affects The Bahamas.
 
The event, moderated by Nikita Shiel-Rolle of The Bahamas included experts from around the world, including Bahamian Hydrologist and Engineer, Mr. John Bowleg, experts from the UNESCO International Hydrological Programme and Mr. Ismail Farjia from the African Climate Hub and incubator.
Ambassador Smith also addressed the UN General Assembly touting the need for a Multidimensional Vulnerability Index to help countries susceptible to water scarcity and climate change like The Bahamas access financing to address these costly issues.
